The way that you get married matters.
If you’re wondering if eloping is right for you, the list below includes some of the top reasons that couples choose to elope (spoiler alert: saving money isn’t one of them!)
1. You want your wedding day to be focused on what truly matters.
Weddings have become more and more of a production over the past decades. The focus of weddings has become more about the venue, the flowers, the dress, the decor, and less about committing your lives to each other.
Some couples have family drama and specific traditions they are expected to follow. Feeling so much pressure can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to feel this way.
The only thing that should matter on your wedding day is the two of you.
2. You value experiences over possessions.
I know, I know, I just said that money wasn’t one of the reasons that couples elope. The truth is that most eloping couples are not opposed to spending money on experiences but are opposed to spending tens of thousands of dollars on an elaborate venue, expensive wedding favors, food and drinks for hundreds of guests, and elaborate flower settings on every table. The average cost of a traditional wedding in 2019 was over $33,000!
Eloping couples would rather spend their money on creating a beautiful elopement experience with the love of their life. Eloping couples can truly do whatever they’d like to on their wedding day. They have the ability to take their time, go hiking, hire a private chef, have their first dance by a campfire, or whatever else feels genuine and true to them.
3. You want to avoid stress, anxiety, and being the center of attention.
Did you know that introverts make up 40% of the population? (I’m an introvert too!) Being the center of attention with hundreds of guests (many of whom you do not know well) may sound overwhelming and cause you to feel a lot of anxiety. Hosting a big wedding is a lot like being a host at a party, you have to be “on” the whole time. But what if it didn’t have to be that way? You can choose to have an intimate and relaxing experience where you can be your authentic self with the person in the world who knows you better than anyone.
4. You want amazing and unique photos to remember this day forever.
Couples who care so deeply about the way that they get married deserve to have their day documented with gorgeous photos that capture your unique experience. Elopements allow you to be your true self, and this is reflected in your photos. No forced smiles or awkward poses. Just the two of you, being who you truly are, and celebrating your love together. As your photographer, I will make sure that we capture some epic shots together, but the focus of the day is your experience together.
Eloping means that you care deeply about the way that you get married. You want your wedding day to be the best day of your life, where you and your partner can focus on each other and having a unique experience unlike anything else.
When you decide to ditch the idea of a traditional wedding, your wedding day opens up to endless possibilities! Whether you choose to elope on top of a mountain, on a beach, in the middle of a forest, or under a waterfall, your wedding day can be completely unique and exactly what you want.
At the end of the day, a wedding isn’t about the venue, the dress, or the flowers. It’s about celebrating your love.
No matter how you choose to spend your wedding day, I am here to help guide you through the process of eloping. I will be your photographer, your guide, your cheerleader, and your friend on the best day of your life.
