Annika & Jacob chose to celebrate their marriage surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in Michigan — with a Pictured Rocks wedding that felt equal parts adventurous and deeply relaxed. On a golden September day, they eloped at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where towering cliffs, quiet forests, waterfalls, and the vast shoreline of Lake Superior came together to create an unforgettable backdrop.
From start to finish, their day was filled with intention, joy, and that effortless kind of love that makes everything feel easy.
A First Look by a Waterfall
The day began tucked away in the woods, where Annika & Jacob shared a private first look near a quiet waterfall. Surrounded by trees and the soft sound of water, the moment felt intimate and grounding — a calm pause before the rest of the day unfolded.
Afterward, they hiked beneath the trees, soaking in the early fall air and the peaceful rhythm of the forest. September at Pictured Rocks is truly something special — warm sunlight, hints of fall color, and fewer crowds make it an ideal time for an elopement or small wedding.
A Pictured Rocks Wedding with Family on the Shore of Lake Superior
Later in the day, Annika & Jacob met up with their families for a heartfelt ceremony on the beach along Lake Superior. Waves rolled in gently behind them as they exchanged vows, surrounded by the people who love them most.
The ceremony felt relaxed, emotional, and full of warmth — the kind of moment where everything slows down and nothing else matters. It was the perfect balance of intimacy and celebration, set against one of Michigan’s most iconic landscapes.
Sunset, Laughter, and Lake Superior
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, Annika & Jacob wandered down to the water’s edge, laughing their way into the evening. Golden light danced across the lake as they splashed through the shallows, completely wrapped up in the joy of the day.
It was the kind of ending that felt true to them — playful, carefree, and unhurried. A beautiful close to a wedding day that blended adventure with ease in the best possible way.
Sunshine, Exploration, and Cat Talk
One of our favorite parts of the day was simply getting to explore alongside Annika & Jacob — soaking up the sunshine, wandering through Pictured Rocks together, and bonding over our shared love of cats 🐾
Their joy was contagious, and their connection made every moment feel genuine and full of light.

Annika & Jacob had the best details! Their cats were pinned on Annika’s bouquet, Jacob’s pocket watch had a train on it (which is where they got engaged), and the National Park logo on their invitation has a cat instead of a bear 😍

“We had the best time working with Brittany and Jake in the months leading up to, and the day of the best wedding we could have ever asked for at Michigan’s spectacular Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Brittany was very helpful ahead of time in working up a perfect itinerary for our day and keeping us on track with our timeline. Everything throughout our afternoon was laid back and moved at a casual pace which really helped keep our nerves in check.
All of our photo opportunities felt natural, and they took some very creative shots throughout. Their professionalism and expertise really showed in every aspect of the experience. The sneak peak shots that we’ve seen so far are spectacular!
