Jenna & Frits’ Isle Royale Elopement | A Remote Michigan National Park Wedding
An adventurous Michigan elopement in the least-visited national park
When Jenna & Frits started dreaming up their wedding day, they knew one thing for sure: they wanted something wildly adventurous, deeply intentional, and far from the crowds. Their answer? An Isle Royale elopement — the most remote and least-visited national park in the United States.
Tucked away in Lake Superior and accessible only by seaplane or ferry, Isle Royale feels like stepping into another world entirely. No roads. No distractions. Just rugged trails, dense forests, quiet shoreline, and the kind of stillness that invites you to slow down and really be present. It was the perfect place for Jenna & Frits to begin their marriage.
Choosing the Road Way Less Traveled
Eloping on Isle Royale isn’t the easy option — and that’s exactly what made it so special. Getting there requires planning, flexibility, and a love for adventure, but once you arrive, you’re rewarded with an experience that feels completely untouched.
From the moment we stepped onto the island, it was clear this day would be different. The air felt quieter. Time felt slower. And everything about the landscape encouraged intention and connection.
Hiking Into Their Wedding Day
Jenna & Frits spent their elopement day hiking across rugged trails, exploring hidden corners of the island, and soaking in the wild beauty around them. The two of them moved through the day with so much ease — laughing, holding hands, and pausing often just to take it all in.
At a quiet spot deep in the woods, surrounded by towering trees and the soft sounds of wind moving through the forest, they exchanged vows. No audience. No distractions. Just the two of them, fully present with each other.
It was peaceful, emotional, and incredibly grounding — one of those moments that feels sacred simply because of its simplicity.
Vows in the Quiet Woods
There’s something powerful about saying your vows in a place where nature is the only witness. The forest held their words gently, and the stillness made every moment feel amplified.
Jenna & Frits’ ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, focused entirely on their commitment to each other. It felt less like a “wedding day” in the traditional sense and more like a meaningful pause — a moment carved out of time just for them.
An Elopement That Turned Into a Backpacking Adventure
And because one day of adventure wasn’t enough, Jenna & Frits didn’t stop at “I do.”
Immediately after their elopement, they kicked off a week-long backpacking trip across Isle Royale, turning their wedding into the start of an even bigger journey. Watching them shoulder their packs and head deeper into the island felt like the perfect metaphor for their relationship — choosing adventure, challenge, and shared experience every step of the way.
Parks & Rec Quotes, Big Laughs, and a Day We’ll Never Forget
Beyond the epic setting, one of our favorite parts of the day was simply getting to know Jenna & Frits. From quoting Parks & Rec on the trail to laughing through the miles, their joy and connection made the entire experience even more special.
This Isle Royale elopement was hands-down the most adventurous day we’ve photographed, and one we’ll be thinking about for a long time.
Jenna & Frits, thank you for trusting us to document such a meaningful, wild, and unforgettable chapter of your story. We’re so grateful to have been part of your adventure — and we can’t wait to see where the trail takes you next ❤️
